English defender Alex Greenwood has extended his commitment to Manchester City through 2026.

Greenwood joined the city in 2020 from Lyon. During the July 2022 Euro 2022 final, she was a substitute for the Lionesses as they defeated Germany.

Having a sense of establishment at a club is very meaningful to me, and I have that here at City. I truly adore being here.”

“The city is in an exciting phase right now and in the future.” English defender Alex Greenwood.

Is it possible for the Lionesses to match their remarkable accomplishments in 2022?

In 2019, Greenwood guided Manchester United to the Women’s Championship title prior to joining Lyon, where she won the Champions League. Greenwood previously played for Liverpool, Notts County, and Everton.

During her two-and-a-half seasons with Manchester City, she won both the Continental Tyres League Cup and the Women’s FA Cup.

“It is a pleasure to have Alex sign a long-term contract here at the club,” said head coach Gareth Taylor.

Over the past several seasons, her expertise has been essential to the team as a whole as well as to those close to her.

Manchester City is currently fourth in the WSL and will visit West Ham on January 15.

Manchester City defender Alex Greenwood has extended her contract by three years and called the club her “home.”

Olympique Lyonnais signed Greenwood in 2020, shortly before his contract expired, and he has made 80 appearances since then.

Together with former striker Peter Beardsley, Greenwood became just the second player in history to play in both the Manchester and Liverpool derbies.

During Euro 2016, the 29-year-old was a key player for Gareth Taylor’s Lionesses team, contributing to their victory.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Greenwood said, “This is home for me.” It has felt like home from the moment I arrived. Staying was a simple decision for me. Occasionally, something can entertain you and sometimes it won’t. As a professional, I’ve had some excellent experiences, and I really want to continue in this field. The place and the club are very special to me. The club’s goals align with mine. I still believe we are capable of achieving and delivering much more. I would like to take part in that. As a player for Man City, there are trophies to be won, and I’d like to win them.
