The largest and most ambitious dream of my career was to help Portugal win the World Cup.
To place our nation’s name on the highest foot in the world was my main desire, and I was fortunate to win many titles of note on the international stage, including Portugal.
I battled for it. For this dream, I battled valiantly. I gave it my all during my five World Cup appearances and goals during a 16-year period, constantly playing alongside outstanding athletes and with the support of millions of Portuguese fans. Put everything on the line. I never stopped fighting and I never gave up on my dream.
Sadly, the dream ended yesterday. Reacting to heat is not worth it. I just want everyone to know that despite all the talk, speculation, and writing, my commitment to Portugal has not wavered in the slightest. I have always stood out for the common good and have never abandoned my nation or my coworkers.
Not much more to add at this time. I appreciate Portugal.
Regards, Qatar When the dream was there, it was enjoyable. Now, let’s hope that the weather will serve as a good guide and enable everyone to reach their own decisions.
